of meals
when they’re needed,
of planes buzzing
out of hearing,
of the radio announcing
“I’m two minutes out”
to hear the voice of base camp and love
in the form of wind
direction and speed.
Meals a combination
of what’s wanted
and needs to be used up.
Huge meals of
meat, biscuits and fresh bread,
mashed potatoes and corn.
And desserts desserts desserts:
frosted brownie and cookies,
rhubarb cake and 1000 calories bites.
But the true richness
is the love of the land,
sent out and returned.
Seconded by the love between people.
There are always the freckles of
daily minute frustrations,
but thickly frosted with
deep trust and competence.
Such a loving place to be.
